day at the park

it was just two days ago that my mom discovered that i was old enough and big enough to play in the park. aisha, my day care provider, put me in a new toy in which i stand. i enjoyed it tremendously. when my mom learned of this she quickly spotted a similar toy in the park...it keeps me upright and i bounce around, play with the gadgets and watch the other kids. (people leave their 'old' toys in the park for all the other kids to play with here). on my second visit to the park to play in the bouncy stand, my mom noticed another baby, about my size, playing on the swings with her mom. so we decided to try it....boy did i love it! it was my greatest adventure to date...and the other mom (ellen) offered to take our photo and email it to us. so here it is...me on the swing! thanks ellen!

my mom, annie bean and i spend a lot of time roaming the streets of somerville. i generally don't fuss when i am out and about and annie bean and my mom get some exercise. we all get cabin fever when we stay in too long. prior to my existence, my mom never noticed just how many mom's were out there...roaming the streets for the exact same reason we do. now, when she looks around, she's sees moms and babies everywhere. lucky for us, we made some friends. jayne, dov and nico are our neighbors. together, the six of us parade around town endlessly...sometimes meeting up multiple times a day. in a way, it's all we can do to stay sane. the weather has been lovely, our mom's eat cupcakes and talk up a storm. even annie bean and nico play with each other! at the end of the day, even annie is tired. we are a good little team.

mother's day

we gave my mom this t-shirt for mother's day....and we went to brunch at keturah and steve's. my mom really enjoyed seeing them and eating their delicious food.



some of the day was also spent skyping with my grandmothers and lounging around on my fathers lap....

we went out for a second day of open studios. nicole and mike wanted to carry me around. i was as relaxed as one could be....often imitating a sack of potatoes wrapped in an orange fleece. on our walking adventure, we visited the famous round house of somerville. it is in fact a house that is round. and it is in somerville. hence the name. it is a local landmark and is currently uninhabited. the story we most recently heard about it is that it was sold for $1. apparently, the home was in such disrepair that the owner was going to be forced to have it destroyed. but, instead, sold the home to a local family with the condition that they live in and repair it. it's pretty neat and definitely unusual. i hope this story is true and that we get to see this home restored.

swimming part 2

today we put on our swimming suits and headed to the pool. we paid our entry fee and put our belongings in the locker. then we went out to the pool. when we got to the pool we were told that the pool was going to have to be closed for the remainder of the day. some kid has just thrown up in the pool and it needed to be cleaned. so we didn't go swimming today.

open studios in my sling

i attended my first open studios.
we went and checked out tons of art from local artists and i absolutely loved it!
i was captivated by all the colors and the people. and i chatted more than i have ever talked before. i had a lot of opinions to share. eventually, i got so tired i just passed out. my mom carried me around in this lovely sling that adrienne and rick gave us. and niki carried me around in it for quite a while as well....it is a super way to travel light.

went to the doctor yesterday for my 4 month visit.
got 4 shots.
i now weigh about 13 lbs
and my length is about the 55%
which makes me 'surprisingly tall'
considering my parents
my head is at the 62%
the doctor said that is 'perfect'
and i needn't be worried about having a big head
and my weight is at the 22%
which means i am sort of skinny
but you'd never know it from looking at my thighs and cheeks
or by carrying me around
i'm all around healthy
and the doctor even called me precocious!

for my father's birthday, my mother created a series of cards for him. she used my face to replace some pretty iconic images. some are pretty cool. and then there are a few that may embarrass (or perhaps anger) me when i am old enough to realize. the cards will be posted gradually over time. see if you can guess the originals!
